Thoth Scan

Privacy policy

Last updated: October 11, 2026

Thoth Scan is a free app provided by Wisteria Stone Soft. This page explains how your information is handled when you use the app.

We do not collect personal information

The app has no sign-up or login. It never asks for information that identifies you, such as your name or email address, and the developer does not collect or store such information.

Your documents stay on your device

Scanned images, cleaned-up images, recognized text and document names are kept in the app's private storage on your device. They are never sent to the developer or to any other server. Edge detection, image cleanup and text recognition all run on your device. This data is removed when you uninstall the app or use "Delete all data" in the menu.

Files you save or share

PDFs and images you save are stored in Download/ThothScan or Pictures/ThothScan on your device, where other apps can also see them. They remain after the app is uninstalled. When you share, the file is passed to the app you choose, and that app's own policy applies.

Third-party services

The app uses the following services. Under their own privacy policies, these services may collect information such as device identifiers, IP address, OS version and usage data. Your document images and text are never sent to them.

Google AdMob

Shows full-screen ads and one ad in the document list so the app can stay free. Your device's advertising ID may be used to show ads based on your interests.

Privacy policy

Firebase (Analytics / Crashlytics)

Collects anonymous usage statistics, such as how often scanning or saving is used, the number of pages and the file format, to improve the app (Analytics). If the app crashes, a crash report with the device model, OS version and where the problem occurred is sent (Crashlytics). Neither is used for ad personalization.

Privacy policy

Google ML Kit

Provides document scanning and text recognition through Google Play services. Processing happens on your device and images are not sent. Google may collect usage information, such as how often the features are used.

Privacy policy

Ad settings

In regions where consent is required, such as the EEA and the UK, a consent form is shown when you first open the app. You can change your answer at any time from "Ad privacy settings" in "About this app". You can also reset your advertising ID or turn off tracking in your device settings (Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking). When turned off, ads based on your interests are no longer shown.

Permissions

The camera is used only to capture documents, and only while the scanner is open. On Android, the camera is operated by the document scanner in Google Play services, so the app itself does not request camera permission. When importing from your photos, the app receives only the images you choose. The app does not access your location or contacts. Network access is used for ads, usage statistics and crash reports. On iOS, you may be asked whether to allow ad tracking.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If such information has been sent to us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Changes to this policy

This policy is reviewed as the app changes. When it is revised, the update will be posted on this page together with the date at the top.

Contact

For questions about this policy, please use the developer contact listed on the app's page on the App Store or Google Play.
