Thoth Scan · iOS / iPadOS
Privacy policy
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Thoth Scan is a free app provided by Wisteria Stone Soft. This page explains how your information is handled when you use the app.
We do not collect personal information
The app has no sign-up or login. It never asks for information that identifies you, such as your name or email address, and the developer does not collect or store such information.
Your documents stay on your device
Scanned images, cleaned-up images, recognized text and document names are kept in the app's private storage on your device. They are never sent to the developer or to any other server. Edge detection, image cleanup and text recognition all run on your device. This data is removed when you uninstall the app or use "Delete all data" in the menu.
Files you save or share
When you save a PDF, it is stored in the location you choose in the Files app, such as iCloud Drive or on this device. PNG and JPG images are added to Photos. Saved files remain after the app is deleted. When you share, the file is passed to the app you choose, and that app's own policy applies.
Third-party services
The app uses the following services. Under their own privacy policies, these services may collect information such as device identifiers, IP address, OS version and usage data. Your document images and text are never sent to them.
Google AdMob
Shows full-screen ads and one ad in the document list so the app can stay free. Your device's advertising ID may be used to show ads based on your interests.
Privacy policyFirebase (Analytics / Crashlytics)
Collects anonymous usage statistics, such as how often scanning or saving is used, the number of pages and the file format, to improve the app (Analytics). If the app crashes, a crash report with the device model, OS version and where the problem occurred is sent (Crashlytics). Neither is used for ad personalization.
Privacy policyAd settings
In regions where consent is required, such as the EEA and the UK, a consent form is shown when you first open the app. You can change your answer at any time from "Ad privacy settings" in "About this app". You can also reset your advertising ID or turn off tracking in your device settings (Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads; iOS: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking). When turned off, ads based on your interests are no longer shown.
Permissions
The camera is used only to capture documents, and only while the scanner is open. When you save PNG or JPG images, the app asks for permission to add them to Photos. It asks for access to your photos only when you choose to delete saved images together with a document, and uses that access only to delete them. The app does not access your location or contacts. Network access is used for ads, usage statistics and crash reports. You may be asked whether to allow the app to track your activity (App Tracking Transparency).
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information. If such information has been sent to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Changes to this policy
This policy is reviewed as the app changes. When it is revised, the update will be posted on this page together with the date at the top.
Contact
For questions about this policy, please use the developer contact listed on the app's page on the App Store or Google Play.
